Hello all

I am particularly interested in any articles, documents, or any information that relate to the second paragraph of Article 10 - " excluding members of the Auxiliary Police Force, or to persons recruited in Great Britain for the Royal Irish Constabulary during the two years preceding the date hereof "

If I take the date of December 6th, 1921 literally and go back two years to December 6th, 1919 would I be correct ?

1) What was the act of 1920 ?

2) Did Eamon de Valera discuss this with Lloyd George in their private meetings & correspondence prior to the Treaty negotiations ?

3) Was it a done deal before the Treaty negotiations took place ?

4) Did the Irish plenipotentiaries have a mandate from the Irish Provisional Government to discuss this exclusion ?

5) How was this checked and complied with by the British Government to the satisfaction of the new Free State ?

An interesting subject that I am not aware has been discussed before on this forum, any information or comments would be appreciated
