An exciting and interesting community theatre event is being planned by An Táin Arts Centre in Dundalk, as part of their 1916 Commemoration project. The working idea is for a tableau of stories to be told, with actors and audience moving around within the Town Hall, sharing stories and reminiscences of local events in 1916. Audio/visual displays will be included as well as actors; crucially, the storyline will also include people and events that did not participate or support the Rising, or indeed actively opposed it. The project will therefore deliberately include perspectives beyond the usual republican narrative.
David Carolan would really like to hear from relatives of RIC who served in the Dundalk area who could share stories or contribute in some way to the project. The stories do not have to police related,; any reminiscences that may have taken place during the period March-August 1916 could help provide input.
