Can anyone flesh out the bare bones of information I have of my ancestor, Michael Joseph Collins, Service No 52320
He was born in Kingstown, Co Dublin 18-04-1867. He joined the RIC 29-10-1886 and was first posted to Tipperary S R (Where?) 27-02-1887.
He was promoted to Acting Sergeant 01-03-1893 and was transferred to Waterford (Where?) 21-04-1893
On 01-09-1895 he was promoted Sergeant and transferred to Co Wexford (Oulart) 22-10-1898 after his marriage to Anne Mary Joseph Doolin, a native of Waterford on 14-09-1898
I have a note of 4 children born of the union between 1899 and 1909.
Michael was again promoted to Head Constable 01-05-1912 and was transferred to Cork E (Where?) on 04-07-1912
He retired from the service 15-06-1915
I do not know what happened to him after that date. I have no information as to his death and wonder if anybody could enlighten me as to what happened to him.
Did he receive any medals for his service? Do any photos exist of this man?Any help would be greatly appreciated.
